BASIC QUALIFICATION FOR POTENTIAL DONORS

Age

New donors between the age of 16-60 years (before 61st Birthday)
16- to 17-year-old donors
Regular donors may be accepted up to 70 years (before 71st Birthday)
Lapsed donors (i.e., Those donors who have not donated in the previous year/s) who are over 60 years old.
Accept as potential blood donor.
Written parental consent is required.
Subject to evaluation by Medical Officer, Nurse Phlebotomist

Weight

At least 50kg or 110 lbs

Pulse Rate

Between 60 to 100 beats/minute, Regular Rhythm

Blood Pressure

Systolic Pressure shall not exceed 160mm Hg

Diastolic Pressure shall not exceed 100 mm Hg

Frequency of Donation

Males
Females
up to four (4) standard whole blood maybe taken per year
up to six (6) standard whole blood may be taken per year

Hazardous Occupations/ Hobbies

Piloting an aircraft
Driving a bus or train
Operating a crane and other heavy equipment
Climbing of ladder, scaffolding, coconut tree.
Gliding and climbing

Interval of NOT LESS than 12 hours of
rest between donation and returning to
occupations and hobbies.

Diet

A well-balanced meal is recommended within four (4) hours before donation.

Maybe verified with valid identification (Driver’s License, PRC card, voter’s ID etc).
