CLINICAL USE

B-hCG is a hormone produced by the placenta during pregnancy and is typically detected in blood specimen with a total Beta HCG value exceeding 15,000.00 mIU/ml

It is detected as early as 1 week after conception.

B-hG increases exponentially for about 8 to 10 weeks after the last menstrual cycle. After 12 weeks hCG concentration begins to decrease.

Elevated in ectopic pregnancy, threatened abortion, recent termination of pregnancy, gestational throphoblastic diseases, choriocarcinoma and some germ cell tumors.
