Anatomic Pathology (Histopathology) Exam

REQUIREMENTS

Receiving of Specimens:
Monday to Friday 8:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Saturday and Sunday: 8:00 am to 12:00 pm
Completely filled up laboratory request

Tissues

Submitted in a wide mouth, screw cap, seal type, plastic container and fixed in 10% buffered formalin solution which must be twice the volume of the specimen.

Body Fluids

Submitted in a wide mouth, screw cap, seal type, plastic container. Freshly collected or refrigerated at   2-10 ºC if specimen cannot be submitted in specified time.

Pap Smears and FNAB/other Aspirate Smears (MONDAY TO FRIDAY, 8:00 AM - 4:00 AM)

Specimen must have been previously fixed in 95% ethyl alcohol for at least 20 minutes and subsequently air-dried.
Labeled using pencil on frosted end of glass slide.

Frozen Section

Request for frozen section should be submitted or presented atleast 24 hours prior to schedule.

Review of Slides

In house: Request, Name of Patient, Date of Operation or Procedure, Surgical No.
Other institution: Request, Slides, Copy of Original Report, Reason for Review/ Abstract
